Title: Time to upgrade!
Post by: Kirks on October 31, 2012, 09:12:11 AM
The time has come to upgrade my PC I have a fairly good idea what I'm going to put together but I was wondering what other people would advise...

The budget is £1000 and I will keep my case.. so I would be interested in what people think

Your PC is going to be fuckin beast :<

Cant go looking atm but my recommendations:

Decent ivybridge mobo
an ivybridge i5 w/ overclocking and a beast heatsink (mine looks like a v6 engine :D but is sandybridge only cost ~£30 and keeps it in the 50s at full load @ 4.0ghz games never run full load. :D here it is for reference http://www.scythe-usa.com/product/images/yasha400RRR_001.JPG)
An nvidia GTX680 or ATI equivilent or if your current card is beast enough, SLI or crossfire? Its what i would do given the opportunity to upgrade my 560ti.
240gb SSD + 1tb or more of the usual HDD.
8-16gb RAM, yeah 16gb isnt needed, but ram usage is on the rise and its always better to futureproof if you got the £££ imo. :D make it some decent ram 9-9-9-21 timings, 1600mhz, Heatcasing. Something from kingston hyper X or gskill. (Ive got 8gb gskill ripjaws, they're awesome and look beasty :D)

A quick google would make that come to about £900 - but we all know how expensive a google search is, you can probably knock a good chunk off that.

Did you need a tower? the spare cash should be enough to get one and additional fans if you need it.

Then at the end of it all - Ship it to me in sri lanka, k thx bye.

Good luck mate!

With spare cash, dual monitor setup is always an idea. :D

no amount of godly PC parts will compensate ur lack of skill mate ;pp

just kidding ofc  ::)

:) :) :)

i can come up with a general build and then give u the link so u can change what u think it's not good for u or whatever...but...since i don't live in the uk or scotland for that matter i need to know if u have a prefered site u want to get ur parts from...if i'm not mistaken i used ebuyer for Joe's build, seems like a good site with quality parts and reasonable prices...do u mind if i use that or would u prefer i use another site ?

eBuyer went well for me :)
Was easy to RMA bad parts, and everything arrived really well packaged
