For some reason you can overclock the 955 higher than the 965 before it becomes unstable...

yea, AMD CPU's aren't great for overclocking... Not stable at all past a few MHz increase, whereas intel can OC over 1GHz quite easily.

i prefer amd over intel anyway. plus ASUS boards have a button that can turn a quad core into a six core and a program for very precise oc. Amd is fine for me as i dont plan to overclock much

Intel CPUs are actually much better than most AMD CPUs. Especially for gaming. Which is why they are usually always more expensive.

Yea. Thats strange you should say that... AMD CPU's are very unreliable :P Especially their dual cores.

Im hoping to change to intel in my next build

Both Intel and AMD have made some great chips and some crap ones, so it really depends on the exact cpu. At the moment generally speaking Intel have faster chips and AMD have a better upgrade path, will this change... sure it will. It will be all different in a year so being an AMD fanboy or an Intel fanboy is a bit pointless and the same goes for GFX cards.

Yea, though the 2nd gen chips from intel are much better than any chip available with AMD right now.

as for GPU's, i try to get nVidia if intel is the CPU, or ATI if AMD is the CPU... Both (mainly ATI) are designed to run better with the relevant cpu

They'd run with most chipsets anyway tbh.

ATI just run better with AMD, as they are just made that way.
however, asus have the nforce line of chipsets for amd cpu's so nvidia cards run with amd, and in SLI

I thought the black edition was 965?

I originally thought mine was the black edition, but then i assumed i was mistaken.. so if there is a 955 black edition.. then i guess i have it xD

Yeah, i just checked on the invoice for the computer and its definately states '955 black edition', unless they've made a mistake, which is possible.

Cool, my invoice tells the truth then :)  Has anyone in the clan got a GTX 590? I heard they had major problems with over-heating, or maybe it was just the first batch that were put out.

Yay e-penis thread!!

Peripherals.

Mouse: Razer spectre
Keyboard: Razer Marauder
Headset: Razer banshee

Tower:

CPU: AMD phenom x4 2.1ghz (-_-)
Graphics card: Geforce 560 ti
RAM: 8gb DDR2 1666
300gb 7200RPM HDD
Some high specced DVD writer for a disk drive...use it once a year D:

Case is some generic one bought from maplins, Massive fan on the front, fan with a vent directed at the CPU and another on the side, standard fan on the back also. Cooling keeps the temps at around 45 degrees while gaming :D

Soon getting myself i5 2500k and p67 sandybridge board with 8gb of Ripjaw memory ~ along with the 560ti it will run everything (including BF3) on max settings. as my CPU lets me down like a bitch right now. Also lets me build up a 2nd comp with the old parts as im getting some over-expensive case too :P

As far as mechanical keyboards go.

I heard the razer blackwidow is often the weapon of choice amongst gamers.

Then theres the Das / Zowie brands which make some good (cheap / sturdy) ones too.

Ive never actually "used" them. But i hear they are loud as fuck and have a unique feel different from the standard membrane ones.

Also they have multiple keyswitches which give different feels to them. MX blues/browns/blacks etc. I know browns are better for RTS gaming, i dunno about FPS.

Look up the MX switches and ensure your getting what you want from the keyboard..My advice would be to try and find somewhere that has mech keyboards of different switches and try them.

Tnx for the input Capped, will research a bit online and see if I can find something that suits my taste.

I have a couple of local online stores  that have quite a number of PC gimmicks on offer, but the only mechanical keyboard they have is the Razer Blackwidow, and I had some bad experience with Razer products in the past ( namely their Barracuda headset which broke in 3 places and then died on me after not even a year of use ) so I don't particularly like them as a gaming company.

I heard about the different keyswitches but unfortunatelly where I live none of the tech stores have any mechanical keyboards so trying them out is out of the question.

i had a razer headset once but the dog chewed the cable .. :'(   that said the fit wasnt great (too tight ) and the ear cup was a small and ive got little ears ffs ..
but i do like the razer mice i get on well with my http://store.razerzone.com/store/razerusa/en_US/pd/productID.231103900/parentCategoryID.35208800/categoryId.36716200   the buttons on the side move to suit your thumb ..
Im just interseted in the mech keyboard beacause the keystroke is in half the time and in gaming milla seconds count
