You have 2 options mate, 3rd is X99 and is fooking expensive
1. Skylake...
Msi Z170A Gaming M5 £140
Intel i7 6700k £290 (on offer at Overclockers)
Corsair LPX DDR4 2x8Gb 2400Mhz £75 (on offer at Overclockers)
£ 505 Total
Good components and 2400Mhz is supported on MB as standard
2. Haswell
Msi Z97 Gaming 5 £ 110
Intel i7 4790K £ 270 (on offer at Overclockers)
Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR3 1600Mhz £66 (on offer at Overclockers)
£ 446 Total
Good components and 1600Mhz is max supported before OCing
In summary, seeing as you have to change MB and Memory the extra £50 is worth it as you get the best Chipset which supports 3x PCIE x 16 slots. The 6700K overclocks like a boss and the memory can be pushed as well.
Hope this helps

That certainly does help, thanks. Kirks had mentioned the same chip too.
Over £500 for this upgrade though, I'm not convinced it will be value for money from where my machine is at now?

Unfortunately the Ivy Bridge chips are Obsolete so you can't get a more powerful one, the L1151 socket and the Z170A chipset gives you options to just upgrade the chip a few years down the line; that is something the L1150 does not offer. DDR4 memory is a hell of a lot cheaper than it was 12 months ago, so you can get slightly quicker sticks but memory speed does not really matter too much as the gain is so small.

You could knock about £90 off that by getting an i5 6600K 3.5Mhz but will OC to 4Mhz in about 1 min
Both Skylake K series chips are about 10-15% quicker than their Haswell counterparts.

Hehe, Kirks had mentioned that one too mate
I really can't see value in paying nearly €700 to upgrade at the moment...
Sad days ,,

Fair one,it's a bit dear for little improvement but it should be 20-25% quicker than Ivy Bridge.
