Title: the xbox cross over
Post by: bobafett on October 07, 2011, 01:22:52 AM
hi gentlemen (and ladies) or those of you with a transexual nature and i dont really know what to call you
...which leads me on to my dilema ....
being an avid pc gamer and hateing the general console ( dont troll at this point as i own all consoles eg xbox ,wii ,ps3 ,ps2 ,xbox slim etc etc i just dont play them ) .
... As you may or may not know i work away from home (thats staying in hotels etc)for most of my life and its mostly at night that i work ...so i have free time during the day to game.
...but i dont want to be lugging my rig around the country
 1 .. its huge
 2...its expensive
3.i wanted something i could chuck in my going away bag hence another xbox has been bought and im struggling with the controller (thumb controls are shit)
Now ...some clever people have come up with a device called an XIM3  http://xim3.com/  which would enable me to use my keyboard and mouse but again im thinking about size here people (not cost) and having to lug that around too .
...so ive been looking at some one handed keyboards like the http://reviews.cnet.com/game-accessories/belkin-nostromo-n52te/4505-10110_7-32685309.html (http://reviews.cnet.com/game-accessories/belkin-nostromo-n52te/4505-10110_7-32685309.html)
Has anybody used ones like these (i know kirkers does but not which one) and could they suggest one that is good also has anyone on this clan used an XIM3  if so whats it like ....does it work properly etc ......many thanks to all

I use the Logitech G13 http://www.logitech.com/en-gb/keyboards/keyboard/devices/5123 (http://www.logitech.com/en-gb/keyboards/keyboard/devices/5123) and before that I used the now discontinued Ideazon Fang http://www.legitreviews.com/article/369/1/. (http://www.legitreviews.com/article/369/1/.)

I have also tried out the Belkin Nostromo n52te you mentioned as well as the Cyber Snipa Game Pad V2 http://www.cybersnipa.com/us/gaming-keyboards/gamepad.php (http://www.cybersnipa.com/us/gaming-keyboards/gamepad.php) that friends use.

The g13 is probably the best IMO the main reasons being the keys have the same feel as a normal gaming keyboard and the position of your hand/wrist is very comfortable for heavy gaming sessions, the main disadvantage to the G13 is its one the most expensive game pads to buy. The other game pads I have tried are all good in the same way that any game pad is good in that they have extra buttons that are easy to reach  and the buttons have different textures so you can differentiate them by feel but the g13 has all this as well as the good key press feel you get with a standard gaming keyboard.

thank you kirkers ..
some great feedback ..
.i didnt really think about comfort as im used to normal play on a g15.. but i should of because my hand was broken a while ago and has pins holding the bones together making it ache after long game play and comfort will become a factor ...
i like the mention of key press too as ive tried to use laptops for gaming but find the keys hard to use cos they're so flat and lifeless ...
looks like im sold on a new g13 .....many thanks
