Hi guys, im currently looking at getting (another) headset, so i can get into TS, and get a bit more involved!
Im currently looking at the Razer Carcharias:

I would go for the Razer Megalodon, but frankly, its too expensive.
Do any of you guys know of any good gaming headsets, known or unknown brands... ?
EDIT:

- pretty nifty feature for anyone who wants to see the headset im interested in!

I don't know how much you know about this but as I see lots of people using USB headsets I thought I would put in my 2 cents
You basically got two choices to go for a USB headset using the USB's simple onboard drivers to create the sound or if you have a good sound card you can get a high quality analog headset.
There is obviously a cost implication getting a sound card and headset but for the best directional sound this is the best option.
USB Headset
Pros
- If you have no sound card the best choice for decent directional sound
- Over all a cheaper option
Cons
- USB has tons of electronic interference
- USB connections cause issues by hogging up system resources
- Poorer sound quality
- Bad for listening to music
- 5.1 or 7.1 is a gimmick a good set of stereo earphones will give better directional sound
Analog Headset
Pros
- The best directional sound
- Great for listening to music
Cons
- You NEED a good sound card
- To get superb directional sound you need to spend a bit on high quality headphones.
The other thing to consider is whether you get open back or closed back, open will give you a better 'soundstage' an thus better directional sound and closed back will shut out outside noise - probably better overall for a headset so you get no interference on the mic.
Whether you go for an analog or usb headset its worth spending a bit of money on as the extra cash will generally ensure you get a better mic, often on the cheaper models they cheap out the mic. I have been through quite a few headsets in my time gaming (my kids like playing with them and breaking them) and I have tried USB sets, analog sets, a super expensive set with clip on mic, cheap sets - I think the best compromise for gaming and comms is a closed back anolog set with soundcard.
If you only got a certain amount to spend and you have no sound card buy one first and get a cheaper analog headset, if you got a soundcard don't buy USB as its pointless.
I personally have liked the sennheiser range best owning a few in the past....
PC330 - good price and good all rounder but quite small ear cups

PC350 - expensive but great headset, you can also get open back version if you like

PC330D - If you really like the USB thing

and sound cards....

click the Hardware Acceleration option and you basically got the best choices, all these cards have onboard sound processing helping free up resources for more FPS.
