I've been using this little piece of equipment ever since I got it last week and I find it amazing.
I'm using it in conjunction with my Razer Imperator and the two are seemigly made for eachother. The mouse glides on it like a figure skater on ice, there's practicaly no friction at all. The mat itself is made of aluminium so it's quite sturdy and is sandblasted to supposedly provide better tracking and based from my experience so far it does it's job admirably. The mouse movement on it ( due to it's features ) is really fast though so you'll need a bit of time to get used to it, especially if you're coming from a cloth pad.
I've read a few complains online about the mat's coating wearing off after a while. I've only been using it for a week now so I'll get back to you on this after I spend more time with the mat as things may change after a couple of months of usage, but so far the coating is the same as it was when I first got the mat. If i'll experience the same issue I'll just RMA the bitch with a request to either replace it with the same mat, change it for another model or just give me back my money. For the money I had to spend for this baby it has to be flawless as far as durability goes.
Which brings me to Ironclad's only "weakness" ( so far )....it is freaking expensive !! ( it sells for 50,00 € here where I live ) But if money isn't an issue then I'd strongly recommend this mat to anyone wanting to jump on the hard mat bandwagon.

Ah, I meant "wrist". Decided to merge together rest and wrist
Depends how you hold a mouse, but I have my wrist bone on my mouse mat.
Surely that would be uncomfortable on a 100% solid mat?
Or what kirkers said xD

My wrist rests on my mat and it is comfortable enough as long as I have my chair levelled with my desk.
And what kirk said

How much of the mat is aluminium? Just the top, or the whole thing?
Must be pretty heavy :O (compared to cloth)

The whole thing Joe. It is heavier than a cloth mat, that's for sure, but not really that heavy.
The top of the mat is sandblasted and supposedly makes some noise when you're moving your mouse, but I always play with my headset on so I never hear it.
