I don't know how many people still play on the server regularly (or even if they are friendly!) but for those still playing heres what I'm up to.
First off I had to laugh that the first vehicle I came across (after an old bike ) was a chopper. I actually had to stop rebuilding it to go find some ground transportation in order to lug all the material back. Unfortunately I'm starting my third rebuild since it appears every time the server restarts it erases any completed fixes. As it is now I'm collecting all the mats first then repairing it when I can make it airborn and safe to land.
The chopper is at Devil's castle where I've set up my main camp. Aside from my truck feel free to use anything in the camp, even the GAZ. Be warned, you have to bring the GAZ in from the holes in the walls, attempting to drive through the gatehouse cost me 2 tires...
As soon as I find more tents I'll be setting up a southern respawn camp with basic materials/food, and when the chopper is flying I'll start working on a larger camp.
Due to the whitelisted nature of our server, I'm considering a more RP location for the camp than pure hiding. I'm looking for a place on the map with nearby water source/fuel source/easy access to roads. I like the top of Risa, it has a road going up to it and is very close to Berezino. I've even considered building a camp on the Berezino docks.
Are there server controls for the moon phase? It also seems to rain excessively at night. Until I can find some NVG's I've been using flares until the moon comes out. I'm stalking Chernarus like some kind of nocturnal Death Wookiee*.
Ghille suits seem to have a ridiculous drop rate. I've found one on each life I've played fairly quickly, yet only found one suit of camo clothing.

If you're struggling in the dark just turn up your gamma in video options.
