Title: character builds for bots
Post by: bobafett on May 08, 2013, 02:43:01 PM
while the game in itself is a constant evolving platform depending on your opponents builds i believe it is vital (as capped put in another post ) that your character builds are done to maximize your potential damage/threat to the other player once you have this in your corner you can then set about learning how to play the game better..
for example..
a guy i know who is level 30 plays ranked matches with next to no runes or masteries ..now thats not to say they dont play well and win the matches but imagine giving that player more damage/health/armor/mana/movement etc etc ..having the correct runes to suit your play style also helps massively ..whats right for some is not right for all ..but at the very least do the masteries and max your runes to tear 3 .
practice with what you use against bots and a great place to look for rune set ups are http://www.mobafire.com
great places to look for these depending on the champion
alternatively if your playing any pvp games try
http://www.solomid.net/guides.php
you will notice more often than not that the 2 setups are different to each other if you compare the 2 sites ..

I would strongly suggest that you don't use mobafire, its really not very good at all. The builds there are... well, not very good at all to be honest. Really, Solomid.net is your best bet, look for builds done by the TSM guys, they are pro players and know what they are talking about. Also, its really not only for PVP, your builds should be the same for PVP and bots, because bots are still playing the same champions. Also, totally ignore anything you hear about counters, they don't mean anything if you don't know how to play the match-up. You don't need to counter pick until about Gold elo, and you cant counter pick in blind pick, which for reasons I cannot fathom you guys prefer to play.

I'll second the mobafire thingie.

I used it when i first started playing before i realised it was utter shit and everyone directed me to TSM.

Never used LoLPro though but im sure theres a couple others people use, thats probably one of them.

this was done by loLPro
Greater Quintessence of Attack Damage x3
Greater Mark of Armor Penetration x4
Greater Mark of Attack Damage x5
    Greater Seal of Armor x9
Greater Glyph of Magic Resist x9

Masteries
Offense (9)   Defense (21)   Utility (0)
Summoner Spells

    Smite
    Flash

Items

Full Game Build

    Hunter's Machete
    Health Potion
    x5
    Wriggle's Lantern
    Frozen Mallet
    Aegis of the Legion
    Randuin's Omen
    The Black Cleaver

the next is the one i use SoloMid

RUNES>
6    Greater Mark of Armor Penetration
3    Greater Mark of Attack Damage
   9    Greater Seal of Armor
1    Greater Glyph of Scaling Cooldown Reduction
8    Greater Glyph of Cooldown Reduction
3    Greater Quintessence of Attack Damage

MASTERIES>
Offense (19)
Defense (11)
Utility (0)

and last mobfire (latest top build)

Mark of Attack Damage 9
Seal of Armor 9
Glyph of Scaling M.Resist 9
Quint of Life Steal 3

Offense: 9
Defense: 21
Utility: 0

this shows you the slight differences to builds over different sites ...what suits one person wont suit another ..trundle is a char that i really like playing ..there are not many champs that can to toe to toe with cho/jax/mundo and walk away with health

I can tell you now that lolpro build is flawed.

I never see junglers build wriggles instead of one of the 3 other options (cant remember their names lol) they are way more cost effective in terms of stats and the ward spammability you get from the support with sightstone nowadays more then makes up for it.

Your much better off buying a ward or two situationally as a jungler and taking your chosen stone item instead. (Situationally being if you need to clear wards to do dragon so u buy a pink, or a lane is feeding and not warding, you ward for them etc.)

Only looked over it briefly but that stood out to me lol

Also, a warmogs instead of aegis on a jungler, the support builds aegis 8/10 times, although its not uncommon for junglers to do this so its not exactly "wrong"

Ive never seen runes balanced like that either (arpen / ad) its usually one or the other, not both or its a neglible effect. 15 AD is better then 7.5 AD+6% Arpen and 12% Arpen is the same story. (When your adding the AD you already have.)

Alot of people always run 1 red crit rune too, but its more stylistic / preference. Sometimes you just need the dumbluck crit to win a fight or last hit a running champ.

Replying to boba's shoutbox post.

Boba, that post is weird and wacky. Alot of players point who reply point out wriggles cost inefficiency. He talks about being able to farm super fast, but by the time you've built those 2 items your needed in teamfights because lane phase is over.

Someone pointed out using only madreds instead of wriggles for the dmg proc on jungle minions which i can see using, but its still putting 200 or so g in the bin when you need to sell it later for items.

Its very niche and could work on certain junglers, but its still inefficient imo. Theres a reason pro players dont use it anymore (wriggles) and even more of one as to why they dont combine the two, it slows down your bigger buys (warmogs, aegis, mallet etc.)

As i said before, aegis is a solid buy from a jungler, but if your support is going to buy it (more often the case then not in a soloQ game, maybe not at plat+ rankings.) its null, because the aura's dont stack.

The auras do stack, but only for those that have the item. If jungle and support both get an ageis, then they will both have double the stats, but everyone else will only have one.

On every aura item it says.

"Aura's with the same name do not stack"

So you cannot spam buy the same aura item and stack the stats, it doesnt work if you buy more then one aegis on one person, it wont work with two different people doing it.

EDIT: Apparently it might be true, unintentional or not. I dont have solid proof though.

Still not cost effective to double buy one

EDIT2: Knighteys right. Riot keep changing it back and forth though, one minute they stack the next they dont, so its a confusing topic lol
